Hall & Wilcox advances Smarter Law with the selection of UK ‘ShareDo’ Case Management software

14 February 2018: Leading independent business law firm, Hall & Wilcox, has teamed up with specialist UK software house, slicedbread, to implement its ‘ShareDo’ case management software.

Slicedbread was recently announced winner of ‘Innovation in Legal Services’ at the 2017 British Legal Technology Awards.

Hall & Wilcox will use ShareDo as its core platform to automate matter opening, workflow, case and matter management. The platform will enable them to:

  1. employ analytics, machine learning and AI to advise on optimum case strategy

  2. track and manage client KPIs

  3. collect and present useful analytics for their clients

  4. enhance their current digital portal platform to allow for deeper participation by clients in their cases at any time, and from any place.

  5. automate certain aspects of matters to reduce process cycle time and cost

Hall & Wilcox Director of Client Solutions, Peter Campbell, said ShareDo was the right fit with the firm’s smarter law strategy.

“ShareDo has a modern, web-based interface, which our selection panel unanimously agreed was more engaging, intuitive and user friendly than anything else we considered. ” “The software has a rich, API first architecture and a solid data store. The software runs on standard technologies meaning we can draw from a large pool of cost-effective developers to configure the system.”

Mr Campbell said firms must manage the service, cost and customer experience of clients more than ever before.

“We need to be more agile, responding swiftly and accurately to changes in legislation, client requirements, opportunities and challenges. Our legal teams are active participants in process improvement and automation, as part of our smarter law approach. We are always challenging ourselves to deliver services that are better, faster and cheaper.”

Ben Nicholson, co-founder of slicedbread and chief ShareDo architect, said ShareDo used several tools, including AI, to progress efficiency.

“ShareDo allows firms to ensure all parts of a matter are being handled efficiently. It uses emerging technologies like AI and machine learning to maximise returns for the client. We recognise in Hall & Wilcox a firm whose technology and client-service vision embodies exactly what we were thinking when ShareDo was conceived.  We are delighted not only that they have become our latest ShareDo client but also that they mark our first expansion into international markets.”

Hall & Wilcox’s Campbell sums up the project’s aspirations:

“We will effectively be building an engine for operational excellence combining the ShareDo platform, the slicedbread expertise and our enthusiastic lawyers. We will be building a digital platform the people will actually use.”
